The Health and Homelessness Fund for Change was conceived by A Team member Marcus Plowright. Through Indwell, Marcus developed an understanding of the challenges faced by our community in the fight to end homelessness. Promoting Indwell to all A Team clients has been our goal, and that outreach led to discussions between Marcus and an A Team client family.
As Marcus describes it, “I was in the right place in the right time, with just enough knowledge and conviction to ask this wonderful family to make a donation at a scale never before seen in our community”. A $25 million commitment was made and announced by Mayor Morgan at his 2023 State of the City address. Marcus oversaw the formation of the Fund for Change, selected the London Community Foundation to manage the donations, and engaged with Mayor Morgan, City Manager Lynn Livingston, city councillors, MPs, MPPs and all levels of community organizations. As of January 2024 an additional $8 million dollars has been raised, with continued support from the anonymous donor family and an incredible fundraising committee, led by Jeff Macoun.
