After a detailed analysis of agencies supporting our unhoused neighbours, the A Team made a commitment to Indwell of $50,000 to address the growing need for housing in our city. Indwell is a charitable organization with a 45-year history of building and managing supportive housing communities. Indwell provides hope and homes to some of the most marginalized members of our society; those who struggle with mental illness, physical disabilities, and addiction. Many of the tenants have experienced homelessness or have had significant hospitalizations due to physical or mental health challenges.
Indwell’s enhanced supportive housing offers tenants a permanent affordable apartment and provides services through onsite staff. This supports people as they journey from homelessness or precarious housing to stable housing and better health. For five years The A Team has been a supporter of Indwell in sourcing affordable real estate to help facilitate expansion of services. We have also provided marketing and media support to Indwell’s team so they can showcase projects and stories to the broader community.
Indwell’s Woodfield Gate opened in July 2019 on Dundas street, offering 67 one-bedroom apartments. Embassy Commons in Old East Village opened in 2022, offering 72 one-and two-bedroom apartments.
