Sue and Doug Wastell had the vision for Kokomo almost 10 years ago. They acquired the land and began imagining a planned community near the beach in the beautiful town of Port Stanley. They spent years developing a subdivision plan and diving into the deep, long challenge of the required approvals.
Wastell Homes began building 30 houses on George Street in 2019. Melchers Construction was invited to carry on the vision established by the Wastells as the builder for phases 2 and 3, encompassing another 80 homes. While Chris Melchers and his team created the stunning single-family homes, the Wastells focussed their building efforts on the first four storey condominium building, bringing another 67 units to the community.
In 2023/24, the Wastells built and created the Community Beach Club, and began work on the park, pickle ball courts and playground. Melchers and Wastells – two incredible builders helping to create the unique subdivision we know as Kokomo.
